Big Green Bags

The big green bags have

waited years to leave

To disappear from the lives of those left behind

The day will come when

it is time to depart

And the big green bags

drive the lugubrious trip

to a far of place

To say hello to the airport

And goodbye to those loved

The big green bags take

an  frightening journey

with a soldier

Across the world

To a place unknown to

those left behind

Never knowing when

They will return to

those left behind

The big green bags have

waited years to make a differnce

To their family

To their country

To their friends

To themselves

The big green bags
