Big Picture Inspiration
Inspiration, for me, is a funny thing,
It always feels too big picture,
I've never been big on big pictures.
Inspiration, for me, is scratches on a doorknob,
creaking floor boards, the scrap of leaves rushed across the sidewalk.
How the trees must curve with our ever expanding horizon,
How we stare at the stars like they have something to give us,
Oh, what the stars have given us!
How our curves fit together so perfectly,
How a nose bone cradles a forehead.
The electrodes exchanged in fleeting seconds of contact.
How can anyone be lulled to sleep by the sound of rain on a window.
Earth's little eccentricities,
It's funny little creatures,
With their sturdy upright back bones, loose jaws, and curious hands.
The things cultivated on this strange blue marble,
How it is so improbable to actually exist,
Is wonderful.
Inspiring, even.
