Billet-doux

Billet-doux, billet-doux, Read by the candelight Kissed by stained lips A dash of perfume, so you’ll know it’s true Oh, it’s you, it’s you, it’s you It’s got to be you Have you been getting my letters, sealed with a kiss? Your messy scrawl is something I never thought I’d miss Oh, but maybe your words aren’t coming through, I still check the mailbox - once, twice, but to no ado Words take time, and time you’ve not Took seven whole months, but your letter, I got. Stained with coffee came four words written that made my heart stop “I love you not” You love me not? You love me not. You love me not. You’ll find me Red by the candelight Billet-doux, billet-doux
