Birds

Location

A little bird pokes his way into the world

From the nest that he calls his home

Surrounded by a chorus of chirps

Reminding him that he wasn’t alone

His mother returns from a long morning

Of looking for that one perfect worm

The peeping of birds is overwhelming

At the sight of food they squirm

After several weeks of staying home

Her hatchlings are ready to leave

Stuck in the nest for far too long

These birds just need to be free

Then one by one they abandon the nest

So very anxious to spread their wings

And off they go into the setting sun

To see what tomorrow brings
