Bitterness

Heat slowly cracking the ice in your heart

Waiting for it to melt and turn into rage

You were once so loving, so open

Yet all it took was the one act of mistrust to seal the heart away

Ice has frozen solid the once warm heart of love

All that’s left is the mere image of the person that used to be there

Bitterness is the slowly engulfing poison that destroys one’s heart

And makes them reluctant to try again

If only the ice would melt away and let them breathe

Then maybe they could begin again
