Bitterness on the Tongue

A grimace

A snarl

Spitting slurs

As fists beat down

Lips curled

Disgust in the words

Who rises

Who falls

When it is all bitter acid

Graced upon our feet

Fighting

Crying

Laughing

Lying

Hiding

Running

Is that all we do?

Hiss about what she did

Snap about what he does

Grimace at what they will do

Comment on it all

When we know nothing at all?

Strutting peacocks

Flood the street

As blood fills the mouth

And hate fills the ear

Why wince at the color

Why flinch at the peace

When it is some much more

Than what we cling to?

Burn the hatred

Till it is nothing but ash

And maybe we will rise

For the better of us all.
