Bittersweet Goodbye

We came here when we were happy.

I walked along the boardwalk in your arms as

you smiled at me as you pulled me closer. 

Then you would twirl me as we pretended there was music.

We had fun.

Dancing and chasing the sun.

I remember the night I knew you were the one

I was crying when you reassured me everything would be okay.

I whispered I love you when the sun rose the next day. 

But then everything started to change 

We would argue and not talk for days

You were always angry

Started ditching me on dates

Now I stand here with my arms crossed on this rail

Overlooking the ocean 

Watching the boats sail.

The sun sets as I make up my mind

Loving you was beautiful but now have to let you go

It was beautiful knowing you.
