Bittersweet Lullaby

Whatever misalignments had knocked the earth off its axis
twisted and turned and morphed
until time stopped
and it was me and you
underneath the galaxies.

You were soft and slow and sweet,
like a lullaby that gets stuck in your head.
A lullaby that no one ever quite knew the words to.
