Black

BLACK. The color that i have been Labeled Asphalt , midnight , Death . I as A Female with "African American" decent am a color. Not by choice but by society. Logically if humans are only recognized by their color i would be TAN . A tall iced coffee from Starbucks , khaki pants , golden Oak floor. But my ancestry Has CONDEMNED Me from being recognized as anything other than a dark cloud . One drop . Was all it took and i was set to a life of being labeled as No More Than The Bottom of your shoe. I applied for college , ethnicity was a question and there were few options to choose. However as a mixed race child i am not only one race i am two buti was only able to pick one race.BLACK Am i not allowed to identify with my Italian half my caucasian half ? If i had only chosen caucasian would i have a better chance ? No if i choose caucasian i would be looked at like i was crazy because i clearly have another race in me BLACK the race that makes my skin slightly too dark to check the caucasian box. BLACK but i , Iam not BLACK. I am a Strong African American and Italian Young Adult TAN ? Definitely BLACK no , i am Not Black Nor WHITE . I Am Abriana.
