Mike Wickenhauser - English 4                                                                            Black What is black? Is Black Death that everyone knows it as or is it power? Does it signify royalties of the most high or dirt on the faces of poor? Is it the color as the Plague that killed many?Black is my culture. Black is a color that lives long. It is my life.My skin is the complexion of King and queens of Africa who showed us the way.Black is the power behind a movement that would change the image of blacks in the 60s and 70s.Black comes from a line of those who honor both life and death and knows the meaning of both.Black is not afraid to conquers an empire and lead a nation. Black is my culture. My skin was dipped in the sweet juices of black berries that was crafted by the gods of life and death.Branded by a society that can't see past my complexion from 300 years ago.Black is the creator and founder of humanity that started off life itself. It is the color that built and stabilized America for what it is today. Black is my culture.  Black is the mother that was raped by society that turned a nation brown. It is the power that kept my people moving in times of hopelessness and confusion. It is the Mecca in my mother land which is installed in my heart and has opened my mind.Black is power, it is life, it is light, it is me.Black is my culture.
