Black is Beauty

Black people seem to be more racist within their own race to me....

Growing up in my overcrowded neighborhood as a Black girl, I have realized how racist black people are.

No I was never picked on,

Yet society was my biggest bully

But I watched as my friends would poke fun at someone, because they’re skin was too dark or their hair was to short or too "Nappy".

My guy friends would awk at the mere beauty of a girl with fare skin and pick fun at the darker girls in the room.

Media has taught my black male peers that black beauty consists of a bigger booty and a smaller waist.

Media has changed the image of beauty and yet girls feen to plaster our faces

All for likes and glorifying comments

You start to question yourself

Am I too dark?

Am I too fat?

Am I too tall?

Will he like me if my body doesn’t look like that?

Strength is in what you tell the mirror

Your own Reflection can be your greatest enemy or it can be your best friend

I learned to love what I see and to appreciate the beauty you are
