The Black Bird

Night is a

Raven.

Always preying,

Seeking,

Looking for an opportunity

Like a sniper in enemy territory.

Day’s protector is swallowed by

Earth, leaving her soft armor penetrable to

Night’s sharp claws.

With the moon as his

Throne, his crows echo like a beating heart

Throughout his new domain.

Night’s skin is dripped in

Black

With purple tinting his feathers.

And his eyes and razor beak blend into his body.

His strong wings propel him

To soar among his millions of bright followers.

There he hovers high in the air.

And circles his

Unlucky victims.

As Day reclaims her kingdom,

Night descends

Into his

Nocturnal nest.

And becomes nothing but the

Shadows

Of other birds.
