Black Bird

Music fills my ears,
but I cannot hear.
My mind is lost somewhere,
and my soul is out there.
I'm steadily moving motionless feet,
trying to give in to the sweet,
but just as a human I cannot tweet.
No sound comes forward like the heat.
Wings do not appear,
for I am stuck here,
taken by my tears,
grieving for my lost years.
My soul is black as the night,
and without it I cannot take flight.
With the clouded darkness I lose my sight.
I am fading in the dim light.
I am the black bird of the night.
