Black Coffee

The sweet love of a mother

has never caressed my soul.

Upon exit of the womb

darkness snakes through,

engulfing my body,

engulfing my soul,

engulfing my mind.

Greed and power

confiscate the place of

love and nurture.

I manage to feed myself

with the bitter black coffee

that my mother released.

Growing into another raw coffee bean,

ready to create the same brew.

No milk,

No sugar added.
