The Black Crow, Hidden

The black bird hidden
A crow, dark as night
Among the willow branches
Cascading to the ground
A song so mournful
Flat and broken, a puzzle
Incomplete.

Who is crying?
Where do the disembodied sobs come?
The crow.
It's tearful eyes shining between the leaves
Damp with dew, rain sliding to the ground
The willow tree
Seeing as much as the crow.

Who is crying?
One or both now?
A black crow hidden
Among the willow branches
Both singing one song in two parts
With the wind and a voice.
