BLACK DOG
Can you see the black dog
he is always there
he loves being carried around
Can you see the black dog
he loves scrolling through the phone
he loves sleeping too
Can you see the black dog
he whispers things into my ears
says i need to do better
Can you all see my black dog
i think he is my bestfriend
but do all bestfriends make it rain
he does all the time makes it rain
but he says it is a special present just for me

Your Poem's Voice
Personal struggle with depression masked as pet companionship; grounded in speaker's experience.
Multiple interconnected ideas: presence, obsession, whispered criticism, toxic cycles packed densely.
Deeply negative; depression personified as unwanted companion making speaker suffer constantly.
Urgent, repetitive questioning creates tension; fragmented syntax drives anxious momentum throughout.
Approximately 15 lines when whitespace parsed; medium-length free verse composition.
Extended metaphor of black dog as depression; 'makes it rain' idiom; personification throughout.
Pure lyric internal voice; intimate first-person confession with no narrative or dramatic shift.
