The Black Girl That Could

She worked.
Worked on eveything that everyone said she would never be able to do.
She studied.
Studeied everything that everyone thought she would never understand.
She excelled.
Excelled in everything that she ever set her mind to.
She was ridiculed.
Ridiculed for being darker in a bright world.
She fought.
Fought for the right to learn just as much as the brighter stars.
She was focused.
Focused on everything that would help her make it to the top with her family on her back.
She won.
Won everything she worked for.
She succeeded.
Succeeded even when the odd were against her.
She was beautiful.
A beautiful african american young lady who rose against all stereotypes that was stacked against her.
She was bright.
Brighter than any of the light stars that tried to outshine her.
She was the black girl that could.
