Black Girl Magic

You might say my forehead is big,

I say that it’s because of the knowledge in my brain.

You might say my hair's a mess,

I say that it’s a part of my personality.

You might say my body is masculine,

I say it’s from caring America on my back.

You might say my lips are too big,

I say they’re perfect.

You might say my skin is dark,

I say it’s beautiful.

You might say I speak with slang,

But I say I speak just like you.

You might say I’m bossy,

But I say “Good.”

You might say I’m loud,

I say that I just want to be heard.

You might say I am “African American,”

I say I’m not African, I’m just American.

You might say I’m not special,

But I say I’ve got Black Girl Magic.
