To Black Girls
BLack Girls get depressed too!! :
In my soul, my happiness has died
I'm so sad, I convince myself that life is a dream
I can no longer hide, that I as a black girl am
depressed.
"What?"
Yes, you expect me to be fine under all this stress
but no, I am in deep rest.
I may chuckle and laugh, but I the black girl
am depressed.
Continuing to smile through the pain is only an act.
I cry everynight, I pray that somebody will notice
and show just that I have a shoulder to cry on.
I cry for help in every aspect of my life
from the random mood swings and the overly laughig
but secretly screaming that someone will see through me.
My eyes slightly close, expressing the ambition i've lost,
that energy that died, the struggles i've tried
and the mask I strive for.
