Black Love

You look like someone I know,

Where have I seen you?

Before the chains I was your queen

Dark and beautiful as can be

Before my great mothers were raped

I keep wondering where I have seen you

It was definetly in the middle ages

Walking in the hallways going to 1st period

You're across from me

You see me and look away

Are you mad I'm not wearing a crown?

Well I'm mad you're not being treated like a king

You're skin is so dark it makes me feel at home

I now understand how the animals felt when they saw Noah's Ark all alone

Am I here to protect you before they take you?

And put you in chains, it happens every age

The bell rings

I guess I have to go to class

To learn about the white man and his great past

They teach us history but we can never know our own

I've see you before I swear it was on a throne

I want to celebrate you us and our beautiful black family

Wait, I think I'm getting to ahead of myself King

I wonder what you see

Hopefully not the angry black girl they make me out to be

I was just trying to stand up for my people

I hope you can understand

You turn away and leave my side

I will always be scared that I'll never see you again

They hate to see us and your

Youre beautful dark skin, lips as dark as ever I just want to

I just want to um...teach you how to love yourself

I hope I'll see you again
