BLACK MINDS!

Mon, 06/27/2016 - 20:30 -- hyattek

Treated differently because of the color of our skin

They only pay attention to what's on the outside, never thinking twice about what's within

Looking at you funny when they see you want to advance

But don't pay them any mind, because you know you future is only in your hands

You know they want to help you, but for some reason they're holding back

Watching their actions carefully, as if you're an animal about to attack

They say knowledge is power, so I don't understand why they don't want us to have any

They're scared that if we obtain that knowledge, that that "one" will suddenly be "many"

Treated unfairly for decades, it's been happening for way too long

We were forced to sing, forced to dance, but they never truly payed attention to the lyrics of the song

We still have to fight for something, when it should've already been ours

Don't waste time dwelling on the negatives, because we've made it this far

We've pushed and we've fought to make it to this point

It saddens me to know that some of us are only thinking about rolling their next joint

It's up to us to redirect our minds and focus on what's right

Focus on our strengths and not on our weaknesses, so we can finally take flight

Yeah, we get treated differently, but you know what, it's okay!

Because, there's one thing they fail to realize, it's that we're here to prosper and we're here to stay!!
