Black Swan

Take away the salt

just to throw it into the ocean

There’s the sparkle

right near the shore

Let it breathe you in

and spit you out

Cry.

Darling child it’s over now

Hold the sand and crack the shell

Cough up the dark ink

and let it suffocate the ocean’s pleas

Drown in the flood

as the world seeps into your skin

and let it be known this is you

not them.

Regurgitate your many eyes

and many chords

to become Argus omniscient

The many cuts on your faces

turn the diamond blue

What have you done?

To kill such a creature,

blackened and alluring?

Get me out of here.

Run

Quickly

before the echoes

deafen your ears

The water is stuck between your fingers

as you scream until the mirrors cry aloud

nothing is alive

no one is here to save you

Cry.

Darling child it’s over now

Hold the sand and crack the shell

Cough up the dark ink

and let it suffocate the ocean’s pleas
