Black Tears

As the song plays along, she is running without even knowing. She longs to find that she doesn’t have to be the prey. She only pretends she is in control. No matter what she does, her body and heart stays cold. She lays and closes her eyes tight as black tears fill this dark night. Will this ever end? There are no real friends. She remembers dancing, flowers in her hair, momma rocking her in her chair without any cares. Those memories are long gone, the days she is the weakest, they are all strong. Some tell her to cheer up, she’s beautiful but still inside she has been made the fool. How will she get out? She is so tired, she can’t even shout. The black tears fill another page as she struggles with her own rage. She has had enough! She puts the gun in her hand...while “I don’t care” plays in the background. This is for the insults of a thousand men. Long into the night, she squeezes it so tight, believing she is the one who isn’t right. She hears Him say, “You don’t have to fight, I got you. I already gave up my life.” The black tears He wipes away, tired she can now see he brought the delay. She doesn’t know where she is going, but someone is holding her hand. Who is this man? Scars on both hands and feet, the one who made her clean. She chooses it to do it afraid because she feels there’s hope when she says His name. He assures her he will take away the pain, black tears will never be in vain.

this is a poem about where Christ found me...right in the darkness, ashamed and dirty.
