Welcome to my Hood, the Southside of Chicago.
Chiraq.
The home of Brown & The Black.
Where being raunchy is okay, but carrying yourself like a lady is crazy.
Where it’s ok to not go to school, but at the age of 9, you’re taught to shoot.
RIP YUMMY.
Where it’s ok to twerk, but not ok for a woman to work.
Where all we know is shoes and clothes.
Flexin and Finessing off your moms money.
And if you don’t have that much, it’s okay, you can always sell drugs.
Where we find white people making fun of us funny.
And we act a fool in public for all the other races comedy.
Well, I am here to say:
FUCK YOU and FUCK SOCIETAL RULES.
I know Black women are seen as angry.
And we are because we cant find our way in a society that has given our race so much flaw.
Where it’s okay for us to go to jail, but if we finish school we have in some sense failed.
It’s ok for us to hold eachother back because we’re all black.
Where racism within our own race is fine, but there’s a problem when blacks unite.
I’M HERE TO FIGHT.
I’m not talking throwing blows on a floor.
I’m talking speaking my mind.
Changing societal rules.
And making sure my people know that the fight weve been fighting even before this life isn’t through.
And this is not just for my people in the hood.
But my people in Beverly who want nothing to do with my people on the Westside.
For my people in the Westside fighting with my people on the Southside.
Can’t you see we all play into the stereotypical racism set by society.

We’re not supposed to be greater than any white being.
And while we may laugh at white’s making jokes out of our stories,
we need to realize that our color is not a novel, and that their jokes are our own realities.
And I’m not racist, I love all my races,
It’s just how many slick racist comments can I take before I see the face behind the smiling faces.
The same faces who shake your hand in public, but go home and type “I HATE NIGGERS” 666 times in Times New Roman font 22 on their secret account they use out of their basement?
How many times will I get told, “Racism is Dead, get over it?”
But my men get shot for no reason but being African-American and trying to make a life for themselves and their people.
We’re living in our own prior fates.

to Society.
The thing used to classify my people and me.
The things I’m expected to be.
By the same society that preaches “Equality.”
But the same society where my people can’t find a stable job on Wall Street or in Engineering, or any where in that means.

My people bask in this, “In our glories,” I guess this is all we’ll ever be.
