Blanche's Poem
She came from Belle Reeve, her pretty, pristine plantation
to visit her beautiful sister, Stella, on a wonderful vacation.
She went on a rattling street car named desire.
This brought her to a place where she’d rather be in fire.
Her husband’s dead, Belle Reeve is lost.
All she has is Stella and her handsome hoss.
They are becoming more selfish and smug like her.
She wants to get Stella out, wants to find a cure.
She has always been the one who wants a man with money.
If he has some green in his pocket, she’ll call him honey.
But this kind of desire is what made her lose her precious land,
and now she only has 64¢ in her hand.
She gets upset easily and has to take a bath.
She is the only one who can see her inward wrath.
She came here for a better life than the one she left behind,
but it seems that New Orleans is not nearly as divine.
She knows not what to do; she has nowhere to go.
All she wants is a man with a little dough.
But this will bring her farther down the road in the street car named desire
to end up this time wailing in the fire.
