My life is a play Without the script It's runs amuck and most of the time I can't help it But almost always It's a result of my inability to care Enough to try and minimalize the damage. It thrashes everywhere Breaking and hurting everything in its way The way a fire can raze a forest I just sit back and warm my hands on the flames. My life is a play Without the curtains Everything I do and say Is seen by everyone and even the farthest of people Can hear my pathetic pleas To please Close these curtains But privacy is scarce, next to nonexistent And I'm forced to deal with the fact That there are people who know more about me Than they should. My life is a play Without the love I don't know how to make it poetic But it's just not there. My life is a play Without the applause It's like standing in the middle of the stage After a solo Your knees quivering and you can barely stand You shiver with anticipation Waiting for praise That you never get And after your 40th performance You stop expecting it. I can't help but wonder if I'll ever care If I'll douse these flames or let them rage These curtains have turned to dusty rags And might as well be taken down Coughs echo throughout the room The silence louder than I ever was My life is a play Always the same And always a tragedy
