Bleeding
The significance of a life
is not measured in years lived
or money made.
The significance of a life
is not created by the opinions of others
or ones' own passing emotions.
The significance of a life
is not determined by our outward appearance
nor by the roles we play every day.
No. We are more than that.
My skin, so white and so pure, produces
blood so red and so dark.
cut once with a knife
and out you'll see, the gushing tapestry
of liquid that runs through my veins.
The stuff I am "made of."
The stuff we're all made of
You don't see it at first though,
you don't see the blood.
All you see is the white skin,
the beautiful glowing blanket,
one of the best covers of all.
But even with this cover, it is
impossible to hide, what is inside.
All of the pain, all of the sadness,
all the work done in vain, it's madness!!!
Like drinking poison everyday, gulp, gulp, gulp.
But it's wrong to show them
Who you really are. How you really feel.
It's wrong to show them what you'd like to do,
what you've been contemplating doing.
It's just not "acceptable". It won't be accepted by them.
And isn't that what you want? Acceptance.
Maybe. Maybe you want acceptance.
But you are too strong for that. Maybe
You just want to be free. Free to let the blood flow.
Free to stop being who they want you to be.
Free to make your own choice.
Free to speak in your own voice.
Free to be whoever you want to be
whenever you want to be. Free to be me.
The significance of a life
is created by our own definition,
our own inner desires.
The significance of a life
is measured by our own opinion
and our own free will to choose what's right.
The significance of a life
is determined by our own inner turmoil
and the battles that we fight each and every day.
Yes. The bloody battles that never end…….
