The Blessing of Black

I defy the odds, I surpass statistics, I rise above The expected. Being black is a blessing Every day I go to school And not the streets I go beyond Being Black is a blessing Not something that can hold me back. There’s no where to go but up. So I rise I rise because they Fought for freedom for slaves for servants, for me, for all. Being Black is a blessing. because I can prove them wrong and I can prove those who fought right.
