A Blessing in Disguise
People like me,
Who wear their heart on their sleeve?
Are easily deceived by what we believe.
We believe what we hear,
Even if it’s shaky and unclear.
Even if we know it’s a blatant lie,
We just let it fly by.
We let our hearts blind our eyes,
And we are mistaken,
For this thing love we've taken.
Like when you said, you’d never hurt me,
I believed you.
But who would have realized,
You weren’t a blessing in a disguise.
Our love wasn't a fairy tale,
It was a fail.
It was the best nine months ever.
I and you weren't your average duet,
We clicked from the first time we met.
I remember your eyes.
They were like heaven on earth,
But who knew such beauty, held such a curse.
You’d stare deep in my eyes,
Who knew such beauty, could hide such lies.
I thought you were perfect,
But in the end I realized you weren't even worth it.
Remember when,
We’d text all hours of the night,
The sleep I’d constantly fight.
Just to have another moment to talk to you.
And with every word I’d fall deeper in love too.
I remember staying awake,
Till' 3:03 in the morning,
Every moment adoring
Every second,
Every minute,
Every hour.
I’d smile at your name,
Now I cry for the very same.
I’ve made so many tears from pain,
My heart under so much strain.
I’d try to smile, but it’s always in vain.
I was so strong, so unbreakable,
Now, I’m venerable and weak,
I can no longer sleep nor can I eat.
All I remember is him.
His right hand holding my left.
My palms breaking out in a cold sweat.
His lips pressed against mine,
Time freezes for a moment in time.
I’m no longer confided in the place,
My love for him is out in space.
But the pain he has inflicted on me,
I hold incased.
My body aches because I love you so much,
Or is it 'cause that time when we got in a fuss.
Your heart and anger raced so fast,
Your fist and my eye clashed.
OUCH!!
You pulled me in close,
My head on your chest,
It hurts, it hurts.
This aching,
This pain.
I can't any longer.
My love you can grow no stronger.
All that in me is hate.
Why did God make this my fate?
I pull away,
But you hold me tighter.
How could my lover, now be a fighter?
I tug a little harder and this time I’m free.
I runaway from my prince,
My forever,
The one I thought was for me.
No matter how hard you tried I never came back,
The heart ache, felt like a heart attack.
I don't want you to touch me
I thought I was blessed to be with you.
But now I realize,
You were only a curse in disguise.
