Blessings

Growing Up When God Was Mentioned I Thought Of A

Long Haired White Dude Dressed In A Gown

I Thought He Was Some Type Of Hero

I Mean He Was A God

They Told Me Blessed Are The Poor In Spirit

If I Was Poor In Spirit How Could I Ever Be Blessed

I Mean Was God Even Real

How Could Someone Who’s So Almighty Let So Much Pain Devour You

How Could He Let The Innocents Get Killed

How Could He Watch Us Suffer

Late Night Tears Why Didn’t He Help Me

When I Was Lacking Faith Why Didn’t He Guide Me

Sooner Or Later I Realized He Never Really Left Me

I Had Left Me I Was Too Busy Counting The Questions That I Miscounted The Blessings

Like A Butterfly In Mid August They Flew Right Pass Me

Like Stevie I Couldn’t See Them

Instead Of Trusting Him I Let My Insecurity & Unsureness Take Over

Forgot All About The Time When My Mom Went Missing & It Was Him Who Brought Her Back

Instead I Was Too Focused On How Could He Let Such Tragedy Happen

Forgot All About The Time Where He Kept My Grandma Here With Me

Instead I Was Too Busy Beating Myself Up Because Of What The Doctors Had Told Me

How Could He Allow That To Happen Why Didn’t He Stop It

But It Was He Who Healed Her While We Praised The Doctors Hands That Were Guided By Him

It Took Me A While To Realize That Power Resides In Him
