Blind?
Dear eyes,
Thank you.
Thank you for letting me
Envision the world around;
Curse you for your failures;
Bless you for your flaws.
Have you always known how to see?
Or did you,
Like I, in my simple ways,
Have to learn and
Have to eat bits of knowledge
Crumb-by-crumb?
Dear eyes,
I tried to, for once,
Experience my other senses
Without your aid.
I shut you off.
Can I breathe without you?
You let me alone,
And let my ears take over,
But you got lonely.
How do you see
Even when I lock you away?
Why do you show me color
When all I want is darkness?
Dear eyes,
You know me better
Than a mother knows her son;
I know you the way the
Sun knows the moon-
Not at all-
Last night a storm hit you:
I didn't have time to send out warnings.
It started to pour and burn
In the morning,
We both felt the repercussions.
Dear eyes,
I hate you!
Will you not just let me go,
Let me be free of the cruelty
From the dastardly shadows
You worship?
Dear eyes,
Stop revealing to the world
The pain you know I'm in.
I am no secret for you to share.
Stop looking for one moment.
Can you, can I
Just be?
Half a moment at least.
To be truly alone does
Not exist with you around.
I shall send you to the
Dull dungeon.
There you'll stay until
I take us to see the
Mountains, their
Green grass and pink flowers.
Dear eyes,
I wish you would stop hurting
So one day we could run
Through the never-ending fields
Without turning back.
