Blind Heart

You think, “Why should I listen? Why should I obey?”

The answer is always, “Because I love you.”

No one has told you what love really feels like.

Those words aren’t meant to be empty, yet that is all you receive.

Empty promises, threats hidden beneath them.

Your abuse is manipulated into something that appears beautiful.

“What does love really feel like?”

I will ask you if you feel alright.

I will make sure you have eaten three times today.

I will listen to your cries in the middle of the night.

I will not hold you back.

I will let you thrive.

I will be there while you struggle, but I will never let you drown.

Why?

Because I love you.

Because I love you, I will make those who hurt you disappear.

Their venomous words will no longer kiss your thoughts, and you will be free of them.

I will show you how to be happy, what healthy is.

Because I love you.
