Blind Love

i look at them

and theyre no different than me

i look at them

and see my friends staring back

society shuns

but i wont let that be me

you hate them you say

and i ask why?

because they have something

something you dont understand

but you dont need to understand

you must feel

feel in the deepest

most sacred part of your soul

remember what its like to love

how it feels

and think

in this moment

what injustice this is

to take away genuine love

because not too long ago

i wouldnt have been able to love

whoever and whomever

because society said so

because thats what society thought

but thats doesnt make it right

and soon youll see my side

until then

this is my start

this is my stand

ill be your voice

against the close-minded

because i want to stand on the right side

the right side of history

to manifest equality

because someone did it for me

ill stand proud in this fight

because love is love

and who are you to take that away?
