The Blinding Darkness

The Blinding Darkness I am afraid of the dark. not because of the monsters I used to believe were lurking under my bed, or of the crawlspace that I hid behind my dresser, scared of what might come out. It is my own thoughts that leave me wide- eyed, crying for the comfort of someone else. There is no room for monsters underneath my bed, that is where I hide my past. The haunting memories, even the ones I used to love so much, I have grown to hate. And it isn’t the crawlspace that scares me anymore, it’s the other things I hid behind my dresser, promises and a future that I shattered, when I tossed them back there, hidden out of sight. I am afraid of the dark, because it blinds me with the truth.
