Blink of an Eye

In the blink of an eye, you were here, then you weren't.

I was worrying about some assignment that wouldnt even matter

trapped in the confinment of my room, worrying

and you were here one second, and the next you were not.

About two weeks from that day, I saw your body

and it wasnt you.

The you that was full of life, plump full of red, peach, and apricot

the color you carried within yourself, wasn't even internal,

I saw it.

All of it.

In the blink of an eye, your life flashed before your eyes

and i still wonder if you thought of me,

if in the last seconds that the blood rushed through your body

and your brain wouldnt allow you to rest, if you remembered me.

I wonder if you would have seen, the scene of you and me dancing,

hand in hand cruising the dance floor

our bodies creating the color red, full of passion and friendship.

In the blink of an eye,

I wonder if you saw the fireworks I felt at your side

my mother sobbed the news through the phone and I saw black.

A blink, then another, clouded my vision,

that day, I had no decisions

it was as if, I was staring at a buzzing television,

no service,

no life,

your life gone.

In the blink of an eye,

all 15 years of you were gone.

In the blink of an eye, you were here, and then you weren't

I apoligize for turning my back on you, when you needed someone most.

I am a blink of an eye too late.
