That Blissful Moment

The words “ because I love you,” cannot compare to the way I feel.

Because you are worth so much more than four words on a broken record.

A brief moment with you sends me flying through paradise.

Each and every second I spend thinking about you leaves me bewildered.

How did someone like you end up with someone like me?

With the talents you have and the friends you’ve made.

How did I become yours and you mine?

I find the times I spend with you, as short as they are, to be the most meaningful.

And the phone calls we share mean just as much.

My heart races every time your name flashes across the screen of my phone.

Our conversations are always full of energy and I find myself smiling at the end of each one.

Every memory I have with you feels unreal when you’re not around.

And I can’t help but think how lucky I am to have you in my life.

You’re never afraid to speak your mind for which I am grateful.

Grateful that you can be so honest about my flaws but never cruel.

Grateful that you take time to listen to me as I listen to you.

Just as our legs support our bodies we support each other.

You keep me safe as a second pair of eyes, watching out for what my eyes miss.

As an inspiration you encourage me to keep moving forward when life gets tough.

While I am here to be your second pair of arms.

Here to lift you up when life comes crashing down.

Because you are worth protecting more than anything else.

You are my blissful moment.
