The Blizzard That Ensues

I am isolated

Alone

I have no one save my mother

And yet, with her words like ice

I am still alone

I try to get approval

Acceptance

Love

I am sent to complete a task

When I try to do something unexpected

Something great

I am met with a blizzard

I try to redeem my actions because I still yearn for approval

Acceptance

Love

And I go above the clouds to do something great

But I almost get killed by the giant

I return to my mother, my home

My desolate home

As the days go by I start to wonder

What if approval

Acceptance

Love

Is never a possibilty in the storm

I am trapped in an Ice Age that will never thaw

And I wonder

Would it have been worse to die by the giant's hand?

It would have been quick, at least

Here I am slowly freezing to death

Drowning

Waiting for approval

Acceptance

Love

That will never come

It will be the death of me one day

But what a slow and agonizing death it is

I make a vow to myself

I will return to the market tomorrow

I will find the old woman who sold me the beans, and I will plant them

I will return to the giant's home

I will find a release from this freezing hell I am trapped in

Once and for all
