Bloodied water

The greatest phenomenon known to man is the concept of love

When love is taught, it is taught to be regarded as gentle and kind

And truly, love can be gentle, love can be kind

Except for when it isn’t

In the same way that water can be calm

Except for when it isn’t

A stream is seen as beauty, it is pure

A storm is hectic, destructive, even deadly in a category six

But water and in all of its forms, is a universal basic necessity for life

Without water our bodies self-destruct

Like water, love is viewed as beauty, it is pure

But too much of either and you drown

And with time, even a calm stream can corrode stone

And with time, love can corrode the soul

Even with the hundreds of faces love shows, it is bloody, gory

The silent killer

And it is with this blood that the pretty picture of love is painted

On stretched canvas, mistakes cannot be afforded

Oh, love

Came so easily, but refuses to go

My hands are bloodied now

Maybe some water can rinse you off
