Blossom

As a kid, I never worried about a single thing

I walked straight through childhood

Dreaming of the big world

As a kid, I was handed the world

I believed that I could be anything and everything

As long as I dreamed big

As I kept dreaming and hoping for

everything that my heart desired

I came to a realization…

I would not achieve anything

If I could not put in time and effort

Into life itself

Coming into high school,

I was given class options

Classes, at the time,

I did not know were very valuable

I fooled around and relied on my mother

To pave the way for my future

I made friends with the wrong people

Who only stripped me of becoming who I was meant to be

I became selfish and too reliant

I became hopeless and blamed the world

For things that I could not control

When my life, as a teen, so far,

started spiraling down

I was forced to take a step back, leave, and focus on myself and my education

That was the moment I realized that I was no longer a kid

My actions and words have consequences and that life is more than this materialistic,

judgmental, society run, idea that

People think it is

At the time, I did not understand the importance

Of becoming and growing,

Not only as a student, but as an individual

It came to my attention that I was indeed growing up and maturing

As it changed the way I saw the world and myself

I realized that I could control my actions and words,

That I had a chance to continue to grow,

As long as I worked for what I wanted in life,

and that patience is a virtue that creates hope and life

However, if there’s anything that I know now that I didn’t know as a kid

It’s that life is only what you make it out to be

So don’t be afraid to face life with your eyes wide open
