The Blossoming Butterfly
I was once a young and timid spirit,
afraid of people , rejection and failure .
Unable to see the beauty in my chocolate
brown skin , my tiny physique , and my
shoulder length hair.
Always allowing people to walk over me,
taking my kindness as a weakness and
my quietness as ignorance.
Going from having friends ,
to have absolutely NONE hurt.
It almost scarred me .
There was absolutely no confidence in me.
After countless nights spent crying myself to sleep
and long late night talks with my parents ,
and the hundreds of prayers to God to help me.
One day I knew my prayers were answerd,
I could feel it in my spirit ; my soul . I woke
up with a little extra pep in my step ,
My eyes were glowing , and I KNEW God heard my cries.
I looked into the mirror , gazing at my glowing skin ,
knowing I would never be that girl again .
I knew I would stand up for myself no matter whom it was .
I was no longer that shy and unknown girl.
I was bloming like a beautuful red rose on a sunny spring day.
I would never be the girl whom is afraid to talk to people again ,
I've become so much stronger.
I have gained a postive mind and a sense of what I'm all about,
I am now more assertive while still having a heart of gold.
No longer will I be afriaid to fail ,
my failures have made me into the person I am right now.
My flaws are what makes be beautful inside and out.
It feels good to say that I am beautful and mean it.
My goofy personality , my loud crazy laugh,
and my serious shopping addiction make me who I am.
I am Raiven Nolen
