Blue

Thin soft skin over a vast blue and green ocean

Unseen and hidden, hibernating underneath

I can almost hear the waves crashing against the barrier that blocks them,

The water swirling in whirlpools, riptides, and forbidden thoughts

I poke at the sand that surrounds the skin covered pools of blue and green

It squishes beneath my fingertips and I smile

Deeply in the dark

It is warm to the touch as if the sun is coming up through the underside of

The small grains that cover its surface

Pebbles scatter across the grain adding a raised texture to the sun dried sand

I poke again harder this time

Poking at the thin soft skin that vails the ocean and the sun that I long for

I hear a sound a low growl

Complaining and disturbed

Coming from the darkness that surrounds us

Your eyes flutter open, tired and your lips part,

Rolling over onto your side to pull me closer

And kiss my cheek

I feel the warmth of the sun flow into me

And I am whole again
