BLUE ANKLETS
Fuzzy blue anklets, tidy packed,
Bought as the season snored.
Kept me cozy through the fall.
They, petite and pretty to sight,
But they warmth like a fist tight.
Gone through places, I conceit,
On and on, bound to my stride,
Obligated, stayed by indefinitely.
Held the path, made me hide.
Present, calm, the faded blue,
Compiled, knitted keenly to abide.
Waited for a weak might break,
To sight it frail, to get it dread.
An eruption of fatigue, coward cries,
A showcase of time, a passage of life.
The stripped blue anklet socks,
Snagged and frayed, dull and dead.
A peeking toe, a covert show,
A torn sock, a rigid welt.
The knotted sock ball is feeble dead.
