Blue Collar
6:20 am the 5 stairsteps play from dad's bedroom.
A sweet sound takes him back to adolescence.
He believes in easier things.
Brighter things.
His eyes rest til 7.
Dreaming of good days, good money, for the sake of his family.
Waking up to the smell of mama's eggs and coffee.
Reality has risen.
Another day of sold potential has come.
Spreading the gospel on sunday like john.
Breaking generational chains.
He is one of God's chosen.
His words like waves brushed against your fear.
Placing color over grey painted smiles.
Dad wore his blue collar consistently on his shoulders.
When depression became a lifestyle rather than temporary.
He kept his dreams in his pockets.
Relying on scriptures for a peaceful slumber.
His sacrifices is the savior from the storm.
Your love can't compare.
