The Blue Glass

Take up the burden and blemish the glass

Your umbra when sun’s behind

Now seedlings sown with love in mass

Be needles slim to find

Tame the beast in midnight royal

They be a child at play

You played a bosom loyal

To the crowns of yesterday

Who perishes for your fruit and smart?

For that is where you’ve stumbled

Blind eyes to tint but not to heart

Call for you to be humbled

The glass will soon be yours to see

Watch Africa cry blue

Whose burden will it be

When guilt scrambles to seize you?
