Blue Iris

She can’t live without hope

The creature that lives on her shoulder

Whispering about better days

Shooting stardust at cracks

To make them look like smiles

A creature with wings that flies over her head

Or hugs itself close to her chest

Showing her a distant world where things

Can never go dark

It shows itself in her eyes, her mother’s smile, friend’s laughter

She can’t live without the creature

Who covers her eyes and whispers

Almost there, just one more step

One more leap –

And she, believes it
