Blue Iris

My florets help put color on canvas

In this world that’s unkind.

Do what you can to keep what’s left on track.

The bitter thoughts in mind

Memory of a touch leaves a shudder

Creeping across my skin.

You said maybe one day I would thank you,

Here, the Thanking begins.

Thank you for low expectations of love

And my destiny

The low confidence made, now born anew

I Thank you endlessly.

The Fear left behind once caused me sorrow,

with little hope in sight;

Even in darkness all my plants could grow,

Just need some Hope of light.

Then he came and watered me, cared for me,

Nourished me back to life.

He pruned off what you did, he set me free.

I once was uprooted,

Now walk around with my Petals with pride.

Without fear of you, my new life begins
