Blue irises and Bluebells

Waiting for his return,

She looks out her window and daydreams...

In her backyard,

blue irises and bluebells

waltz in cadence to their

crooning of his bittersweet anthem.

Daily, she waters the

blue irises and bluebells.

She looks down to

                              pieces of a

      blue bag,

weathered by the rain of her

watering can,

waltzing in cadence to its

crooning of his bittersweet anthem.

Afraid to break the cadence...

Daily, she waters the

blue irises and bluebells.

If she stopped watering the

blue irises and bluebells,

they would cease.

If they cease then-

Daily, she waters the

blue irises and bluebells.

Maybe someday she will water the

wilting red roses and pink carnations,

and forget about the

blue irises and bluebells.
