Blues Like Billie
She got the blues like Billie, they say.
But what do they know?
They can't see me- I mean her, so?
Low in the dumps is an understatement.
She thinks her rates are low.
Everyday she goes toe to toe with herself.
She's been told she's not pretty enough, smart enough, nor loved enough.
People smile on her downfall but laugh in her face at the good that comes her way.
So they say, everything they think they know, tearing her heart apart.
She's got big dreams but sometimes they aren't enough to escape her hell.
She can't set sail because she can't start to love and believe in herself.
No wonder she can't love herself.
She got the blues like Billie Hoilday, singing that ole' heartbreaking song.
I wonder does she know she can run long, if she just gets along with herself.
She got the blues like no other.
She's hiding under the cover of cowardness, believing she is less.
But when will she get the light of happiness like the rising sun of the world?
No one knows but, it is hoped that she curls out of her shell and into the greatness she is destined to fairwell in.
