Blurring the Line Between Perfection and Hate
To fall for the poet
Is to fall for the poem
The mindless words in that
Broken voice
The mask of metaphors of those
Gentle ocean eyes
The similes of silk hair
Like an angel's
Produced by
The smooth, soft voice
The well... timed... pauses, and
The skipped---beats
Like making love in
The most tragic of ways
Trying to hide the tortured voice caused by
Imperfection
Of knowing you're not good enough
Of knowing one muse isn't enough
Knowing that the poem is
A steel wall
Put in to keep you out
Put up to keep you down
The crazed eyes craving crazed souls to devour
For the perfect word
A perfect work
And you finally understand why it's called falling
When you can't find a foothole to pull you back up
So you keep falling
For the perfect words you love so much
The imperfection that can only hate
So you keep
FALLING
Even though you know
It'sonly a poem
Words on a page
The love of a poem can't break a fall
