The Boardwalk

Once again, I found myself by the sea,

Sitting underneath the old, wooden boardwalk.

It was my favorite place to be

And I dreaded having to leave.

The beach was lined with broken shells,

Brought in the by the morning waves

That relentlessly crashed again the sand.

By morning they would be gone again.

The sky was grey and the waves came in bigger than usual.

The ocean was merciless when angry.

Although the tide was quite predictable,

The ocean had a mind of its own.

The huge grey clouds covered the sun,

And the rain followed soon after.

The rest of the day was dark and dreary,

I hoped tomorrow would be better.

Tomorrow is the day

I have to say goodbye to this place.

I know I’ll be back soon,

Sitting underneath the boardwalk again.
